I was born and raised in Zimbabwe. I am a wholly self -taught artist. I am both a painter and illustrator . Art has always been a big part of my life but it became even more so after I severely injured my spine and legs in a motor vehicle accident in Zimbabwe. I was recently selected to exhibit my work " Forbidden Love" at the Bankley Open in Manchester. I was also selected as one of twenty artists exhibiting in the Curated FairArtFair at the Unit 1 Gallery in London. My work “The Visitor”(oil painting) was recently selected as part of the Northern Open exhibition at the Gallagher and Turner Gallery in Newcastle.
I paint in oils, usually on canvas or linen. I often use situations in my environment and home as my subject matter for my oil paintings and drawings. The use of vivid colour is evident in both my painting and drawing. I do not go out to seek beauty and inspiration but look for it in my own environment and in my experiences and my memories. I also draw mostly using a combination of oil pastels and ink. Despite moving to the UK my art is still closely linked with Africa in my use of colour and subject matter.
I am inspired by people and their interaction with each other and the world around them. I love the process of dwelling on an image or a memory and then building a colourful story using paint or oil pastel.
If you are interested in any of my work and would like to discuss availability please do not hesitate to contact me.
